Combustion & Biomass · 2002–2015

My career started in combustion. As a Junior Researcher at INETI (2002–2004) I worked on a European project for the energetic valorisation of meat and bone meal co-combusted with coal. At ENERDINÂMICA (2004–2005) I moved from the lab to policy, reviewing the Portuguese national plan for greenhouse gas mitigation and proposing a national action plan for climate change. A decade later, as Energy Programme Manager at INTELI (2012–2015), I closed the loop by leading the development of BioAtlas — the first Portuguese GIS for biomass resources.

Onshore Wind Development · 2008–2011

Three years at MARTIFER GROUP in Rome as Deputy Country Manager, riding the European renewables boom. We analysed 2GW of project offers across Italy, Greece and Spain, performed technical and financial due diligences, fiddled with wind park layout optimisations and power curves, and closed greenfield development, EPC and O&M contracts for the first 2MW of company operations in the region.

Utility-Scale Solar · 2011–2012

A short, intense year at LANCO SOLAR — a Portuguese guy working in Italy for an Indian EPC giant headquartered in London. I started as Senior Manager on the Italian development team, became Head of Development after four months, and finished in London leading European strategy. We assessed 600MW of utility-scale solar projects, three corporate finance deals, dozens of due diligences, and one M&A process. The most rewarding and exhausting work experience I've ever had.
